| Vehicle design addresses the emotions of the customers in a special way and is aimed at strengthening customer loyalty to the vehicle brand in the long term through distinctive appearance. Vehicle lighting has always played an important role. Lighting as a central style element is no longer imaginable without new lighting technologies and innovative designs merging lighting with the vehicle. However, there is still required a conformity test according to UN-ECE R148 and R149 using a goniophotometer.
Instrument Systems addressed the issue of large, edge to edge DUTs by a customized approach of the traditional Type A goniometer mechanism based on its high-performance goniometer AMS 5000. This is suitable for all vehicle lights, very large samples, but still with the accuracy needed also for critical headlamp applications such as ADB. At DVN Detroit 2024 Instrument Systems presents the new AMS 5000 XR for extra-large samples. Since early 2024, this goniometer has been available and can be adapted to special requirements of the specimens.

The AMS 5000 from Instrument Systems’ Optronik Line is a CIE Type A far field goniophotometer of outstanding performance and efficiency. The principal use of the AMS 5000 is for type testing and homologation of vehicle headlights and signal lamps in accordance with current standards such as ECE, SAE, FMVSS 108. | | PD 100 Photodiodes - Fast measurement of radiant power in VIS or IR | |

| The photodiode PD 100 is the ideal complement for a measurement system comprising a spectroradiometer (CAS series) and integrating sphere (ISP series). The fast response time of the photodiode also enables the exact measurement of pulsed light sources, e.g. for determining the LIV curve of a VCSEL. If a fast multimeter with high sampling rates is used (e.g. Keithley 7510, 1 ms/sec), optical flanks can also be made visible.
